The American Medical Association has now recognized the medical value of marijuana and the federal government has provided medical marijuana to selected medical patients for many years. Recently my doctor prescribed cannabis to help with my illness and I have been struggling to incorporate it into my pain management without smoking it, as I don't want the harmful carcinogenics that come along with the traditional way of smoking it. So, a friend recommended "What Makes Cannabis Recipes Work?" for me to help get me started and I have to say that it turned out to be a smart and helpful guide towards understanding and successfully making cannabis recipes work.

Ronald Hudkins has managed to write a no-fluff, no-nonsense guide that helps readers understand the complexities of cannabis in recipes from the specific cannabis ingredients that are used today to the tactics that turn a once unappealing "nasty pot brownie" into a delicious food that that not only tastes great, but helps as well. The book is well-written, informative, carefully organized for maximum usage and is extremely helpful for introducing readers to the successful ways to incorporate cannabis into food recipes.

Overall, it was a great read that will prove invaluable in helping me to use my cannabis prescription in a healthy and beneficial way. I would definitely recommend this book to other readers who want to know more about making cannabis recipes work.

The science and logic behind eating ‘grass’ is spelled out clearly in What Makes Cannabis Recipes Work? Though I have smoked it in the past (medicinally… of course) I have never eaten a pot brownie – I may be the only person in my graduating class that failed to undertake this most iconic of milestones. That lack of knowledge allowed me to approach this book with a surprised eye – I honestly didn't know that the high gained from eating marijuana lasted 4 to 8 times longer than the high received from smoking it. Considering that I live in a state where recreational use is still illegal, (cough, cough) I doubt I will gain firsthand knowledge of this fact.

All kidding aside – this is a serious book that tackles a serious subject. The medicinal use of cannabis is well founded and legal in many states in America and many countries across the world. It seems that every year another condition finds its way into the tome of ailments cannabis, either smoked or eaten, can treat. Often, smoking is not an option for those seeking treatment, either due to the carcinogens that may harm the lungs or personal reasons. Ingesting marijuana orally is a logical alternative. But how does one go about that, beyond the aforementioned brownie? There has to be more to the science of the mix.

What Makes Cannabis Recipes Work? Answers that question in spades, breaking down the culinary science that THC brings to the kitchen. Any person that has ever baked knows that incorporating ANY ingredient in a recipe is chemistry. This book helps define that chemistry in a no-nonsense, straight forward way. From Ghee to Tar, even cannabis infused alcohol uses are covered – all backed by a fair and equal ethical warning for both users and those curious.
