Beware! The publishers of the current, 9th, edition advertise online access. Indeed, the publishers provided excellent access from the text's publication in June 2009 until they closed it at the beginning of this year. Online access is now again available, but has been (at what must have been considerable expense) revamped so that one can no longer use one's computer to print sections for personal use. In the process, they've also made it less readable on a computer screen as well. I had used the text almost exclusively online, because each of the two volumes (10+ pounds each) is too heavy for any sustained or repeated use. Of course, no will buy another copy because Lippincott Williams & Wilkins and Wolters Kluwer, the publishers, have decided to prevent online use that they've already sold, which means they're not making more money. They are, however, discouraging further sales: anyone who seriously wants to study the text will now want to use a copy machine. Also, of course, many who have previous editions will simply use someone else's for the occasional newer material.

I was reluctant to order this e-book, as I need to have access to page references. When I downloaded it, I saw that it did not have them, which was disappointing, but I figured that I could look for words and phrases using the search function. It was USELESS-- at least on the Kindle iPad app.it will find a few instances of the word your looking for (forget about phrases), then the search thing just spins, and spins... until the device goes to sleep. What a letdown. Do yourself a favor-- buy yourself the 2-volume dead tree copy, carry it around with you, and consider it your workout for the day. Do not buy this defective Kindle product.
