ALLEN CHIOU

 Allen Chiou had always wanted to go to medical school, but his interests were diverse. At Stanford, he joined a bioengineering lab involving research in cardiovascular fluid dynamics and volunteered at a local community clinic. After discovering that patient contact was his true passion, he explored international health and volunteered at a medical center in Honduras. These experiences prepared him for the vigor of medical school and instilled in him a love of helping patients.

 

DR. DAVID IBERRI

 

Dr. David Iberri is now serving his residency at Stanford University. He studied Physiology at UCLA and later completed a post-baccalaureate program at Georgetown. This program helped him spruce up his application, and he was accepted into University of Vermont. His aspirations to be a doctor were inspired by his family and his favorite toy, a Fisher-Price doctor's kit.

 

DR. MANUEL LAM

 

Dr. Manuel Lam graduated from Brown University's 8-year medical program, the Program of Liberal Medical Education (PLME). He is now a medical resident at Stanford Hospital & Clinics. Originally from Guangzhou, Dr. Lam's parents worked in laundromats and Chinese restaurants, and Dr. Lam was the first person in his family to go to university. His family immigrated to Rhode Island from Venezuela when he was young, and his unique story gave him an advantage in applying to Brown.

This e-book is terrible. For one, the book is very unprofessional and is written as though the writers stayed up taking shots and wrote the entire thing in one night by email. Second, the book repeats sections. My estimate would be that original material only comprises 50 to 60% of the material. Because sections are repeated, it lures the reader into thinking that the book is much longer than it really is. Third, each "section" is approximately 2 paragraphs based on what the authors think to be true. Statistics are rare finds, and each topic is basically a one sentence summary of the authors intuitions. Finally, I believe that $10 is a complete rip-off based on the fact that this "e-book" could easily be summarized in a pamphlet, or by any well-spoken high schooler for that matter. Don't waste your 10 bucks.
